"With "On My Own" (Self produced/not rated) JENNYFER STAR, ex Swindle-a-Go-Go and ex Starlet Suicide, tries going do-it-yourself taking care of vocals and rhythm guitars. Guestlist is absolutely respectable: Mia Coldheart on backing vocals on one song and ever-present Martin Sweet and Peter London, of course on guitar and bass.
The beginning of "As Good As It Gets" leaves no doubt: the style remains the same of Starlet Suicide, the song is quite melodic with a killer chorus and a very 80s choir. The second (and last) song is a bit slower, a mid tempo driven by Peter London on the six strings. Catchy chorus as usual that should make Vixen and Lita Ford fans happy. A good beginning for the blond singer and guitarist, let's see how her career will develop!"

"In the past, we had STARLET SUICIDE who was fronted by the luscious Jennyfer Star, they released two EP’s which both were reviewed on RockEyez and got favorable reviews.
Jennyfer steps out on her own to release her first solo debut material called “On My Own” with two tracks. Let’s not get a big head over this but all musicians and vocalists need to branch out and that’s what she did.
She expresses STARLET SUICIDE will always be in her heart but she need to grow. The opening track “As Good As It Gets” is a complete raw sounding track and that’s was gives it’s a fantastic vibe. Ya know, how can Jennyfer go wrong with the musicians that accompany her on the two tracks, one is the guy she sucks face with Peter London of CRASHDÏET and the other is none other than the man Martin Sweet yeah another CRASHER. The song flows well and the chorus is catchy, her vocals are in the vein of Courtney Love yet drive home the long ball with her expression of hitting the high notes.
Track two “Be The Same” is a more melodic song that delivers the goods. There are just not enough strong rock female vocalists these days, but Star sure as hell is one on the rise. Who knows if she can make an impact? What I also like about Star is that she can play a mean rhythm guitar instead of just standing there and saying ‘Ain’t I HOT!, even though she is… Sorry Peter remember what you were taught you must share. Ha!"

"Swedish born vocalist/guitarist Jennyfer Star has a look & voice that screams 'I AM VINCE NEIL´S LOVE CHILD'. This 2 trk single is a total sleaze fest. 'As Good As It Gets' & 'Be The Same' are catchy, sing along, 80´s attitude driven beasts that would sit nicely on any Vixen or Lita Ford album. Sadly the production does leave the vocals sounding weak in places giving a 'demo only' quality to the sound. She´s not gonna win any prizes for originality but, she´ll certainly turn a few heads."

"Sassy Jennyfer Star recently tiptoeing aside from her reasonably successful band 'Starlet Suicide' and going it alone. Immediately noticeable here is the unremarkable likeness to the stuff they were already offering. So SS fans won't be too upset she's upped and left.
The first track 'As Good As It Gets' sees Jen using her familiar roughed up vocal style similar to that of Brody Doyle or possibly Courtney Love. The music behind the vocals is incredibly perfect, an almost pop influenced rock n roll theme, which wouldn't sound too unconvincing with Britney or Gwen singing along. Being heard in the right places could ensure more success than say Dirty Harry with more diversity and be much more deserved and I'm thinking Ms Star perfected the good girl gone bad image and attitude long ago.
Moving along to track two 'Be the Same' you hear a complete change of style for most of the song and notice that underneath the growling lies a delicate almost refined voice, which along with the subtlety of the lyrics and the change of flow in the music gives this song preference over the opening track.
Third track includes a blast of male vocals, which are quite impressive if you try not to take too much notice of what he's singing. Wondering what 'Size Queen' could be relating to, at first thinking we've come past such obvious innuendo's and expecting it to be connected to the recent state of the size zero model myth - couldn't of been more wrong. It's exactly what you're thinking. Guys with small feet need not apply."

"After taking a break from sleaze punk band STARLET SUICIDE, singer/guitarist Jennyfer Star decided to go solo and recorded 2 songs for a single. And the music remind a little of her former band, but it's less punk and more rock.
Jennyfer is not doing everything by herself on this single, Martin Sweet (CRASHDIET) play solo guitar, Peter London (CRASHDIET) play bass and lead guitar on the second track and Mia Coldheart (CRUCIFIED BARBARA) sings backing vocals on the first song.
The first track, "As Good As It Gets", reminds me of '80s hard rock, and it's a really good song! A little weird when a woman sing "let's be a man about it" though, hehe.
The second track, "Be The Same", is a little softer but damned good anyway.
So, when will you record a full-lenght album? Definetely worth checking out!"

"This is the debut solo single from Jennyfer Star who was formely with Danish Rock n Roll band 'Starlet Suicide'. Some one argue that these two tracks are very similar sounding to 'Starlet Suicide' and I for one would agree with that comparison. Still that isn't a bad thing and with this single there's more of an emphasis on Jennyfers voice which is amazing. Forget the likes of Brody and Courtney - Jennyfer Star has come into her own here. The opening track 'As Good As It Gets' is by far the strongest song on here and captures Jennyfer at her best. A great Rock N Roll song that is addictive. The second track on here 'Be The Same' isn't a bad number but it just didn't have that addictive feel that 'As Good As It Gets' has. There are some good monets in the song though I just think maybe a just a little more work on it though! All in all a pleasurable listen and I for one can't wait for an album."

"Jennyfer star, Starlet Suicide vocals, is back with her solo project: the EP "On my owen". She composed and produced this album with the help of Martin Sweet and Peter London, CRASHDÏET members. The songs are great, the rhythm is fast and powerful thanks to Jennyfer attitude and to her striking, rocking voice that reminds me a lot of Juliette Lewis (Juliette & the Licks) and of Curtney Love (Hole). As good as It gets and Be the same are pleasant and fascinating, the sound goes fast and the slows down creating hot melodies: scan rock, sleaze punk and street rock are the main influences. This girl made a great ep, her music is groovy, sexy and powerful!"

"There are Times in life where you get things just on accident. One of those lucky breaks spins just right now in my CD player and is called 'On My Own'. One week ago i've looked on Myspace once again to collect some Promoinfos on several Bands, among my list there were also the Glammers of Starlet Suicide. After a couple of hours i've received a Mail of Jennyfer Star, the singer of Starlet Suicide. The band would be on a Break at the time but if i'm interested i could write something about her new soloproject. No question that i wanted to do this!
A little timewarp - one week later: the 2-Track EP 'On My Own' just arrived my postbox and i'm very curious if Jennyfer can reach solo the same high level like she did with Starlet Suicide. Short answer - she can! The both songs of the EP breathe the same easy going vibes like her majorband. 'As Good As it Gets' is a real catchy tune with a classy chorus. The sleazy-rough voice Of Jennyfer sounds like a mixture of a for her life screaming Courtney Love and Joan Jett at her best times. The second track 'Be The Same' is a little bit slower and more melancholic, but on the same good level like the first song. All together really damn entertaining 8 1/2 Minutes. I'm very curious about if the sweet blonde can hold this high standards on a future full album release!"

"The blond lady Jennyfer Star is well know from bands like Miss Cocaine or Swindle-A-Go-Go, but Jen made the most impact over the last few years with her band Starlet Suicide. Starlet made suicide, and Jennyfer starts Solo-project. 'On my Own' is just two-song single, but these really kick ass. I was highly sceptical, because I was afraid that Jennyfer would go the way back to the Grunge-Sound. But don´t worry, this is a real Glam-Metal-Highlight. The two tracks are produced by Martin Sweet (CrashDiet) and he also plays the Guitar-Solos on both songs, furthermore Peter London played the bass guitar. My beloved great-sounding screams from Jennyfer Star you can hear on both songs in full perfection. This girl is so awesome. On “As good as it gets” Jennyfer has a little help from her friend Mia Coldheart (Crucified Barbara) on the backing vocals.Without a shadow of a doubt, this is a fantastic debut from Jennyfer Star as Solo-Artist. Now I hope Jen hurry’s up with a full time album."

"Right after the announcement of hiatus of Swedish band STARLET SUICIDE, singer JENNYFER STAR started the production of a 2 tracks EP in order to show her fans that she's still active and that her solo project is serious. Instead of going through the recording of unachieved 5 or 6 tracks, JENNYFER STAR decided to focus herself on only 2 songs. With the help of Swedish fellow musicians from the sleaze/hard rock scene, she went into the studio and came out with this pretty good 2 tracks EP. The recipe is still the same, the songs are similar to STARLET SUICIDE: Swedish glam rock! The first track is pretty catchy, and its singularity lies in the fact that Mia Coldheart of CRUCIFIED BARBARA helps JENNYFER STAR with the backing vocals, which gives depth to the chorus. Mia's voice detaches itself from Jennyfer's while according pretty good to it. This song is rocking, in the pure tradition of STARLET SUICIDE. 'Be The Same' is a bit better in my opinion, with a verse played in clear arpeggios, which emphasizes the punchy chorus. This song is without a doubt the best one that JENNYFER STAR as ever written. This EP is a good appetizer and its only drawback is the limited number of songs! Let's wish that JENNYFER STAR will keep on the good work and will release a full length soon. JENNYFER STAR, a star on the rise!"

"Armed with pink stars, red lipstick and fishnet, JENNYFER STAR is back “on her own”. Most of you probably already read about Jennyfer on this website in a way or another since we've been reviewing her bands (SWINDLE-A-GO-GO, STARLET SUICIDE...) for a few years now. After a few promising demos and shows in Sweden and other European countries with STARLET SUICIDE, Jennyfer offers us two new solo songs. “As Good As It Gets” is a hard rockin' 80s sleaze metal track with big backing vocals (by Mia Coldheart from CRUCIFIED BARBARA) while “Be The Same” is a power ballad with a guitar verse reminding me of D.A.D. Fellow Swedish sleaze rockers Peter London and Martin Sweet (CRASH DIET) also helped out Jennyfer and appear on these songs. A two song CD is quite short but allows us to see what JENNYFER STAR is aiming at and gives us a hint about her future solo releases. Waiting for more songs, fans of the new Swedish sleaze/glam metal scene will enjoy this for sure."
